Community Visits

Nursing Homes

Therapy dogs in nursing and residential homes can be used to brighten the day of many residents as well as the staff. Many of our therapy dogs regularly make these visits which are empowering peoples lives simply with their presence or a stroke.

  • It relieves stress and anxiety
  • It helps to lower blood pressure levels
  • They increase the mental and physical activity of the residents
  • Improves self esteem
  • A stroke from one of the dogs lets them open up and reminisce
  • Therapy dogs have no public access rights so are not allowed into an establishment unless they have prior acceptance

Victim/Witness Support for Court

We have a select group of PFS therapy dogs, who along with their handlers, work in conjunction with the Bailiwick of Guernsey Victim Support and Witness Services LBG.
The dogs offer a distraction and help to ease tension for victims/witnesses and families (particularly children and teenagers) through court proceedings.

Benefits of having a therapy dog during these proceedings can help ease anxiety, stress and make it all less daunting. They can reduce tension, fearfulness through their non judgement presence, which inspires a sense of safety and trust.

These dogs can provide comfort for those experiencing trauma or distress. It's also highly valuable for children, who may not understand the seriousness or are fearful of the serious nature of the proceedings.

Hospital Visits

Our therapy dogs visit various wards at the hospital, and this provides comfort, support and a stress relief for patients and staff.

* Interacting with a therapy dog can lower blood pressure and reduce stress hormones.

* Their presence can bring joy, laughter, and a positive distraction from the challenges of hospitalisation.

* They encourage interaction between staff, patients and visitors.

* Offer companionship for those missing their dog at home.

Groups & Clubs

Our therapy dogs visit a wide variety of groups and clubs including church groups, guiding and scouting groups and other youth and charity organisations.

These visits promote PFS and what we do, whilst giving knowledge about staying safe around dogs and appropriate interactions. But above all these, our visits aim to improve mood, reduce stress and enhance overall wellbeing for individuals of all ages.

Other therapeutic benefits including keeping calm, cheering up those who are feeling sad and providing companionship in various situations.
